CJ describes Camellia and Rose as a sort of secessionist reinterpretation of his watercolor painting, Nouveau Rose. The triptych was created for clients who loved Nouveau Rose, but they wanted something more. They had a specific place in their home where they wanted to feature artwork inspired by their historic home and the Rose City of Portland Oregon. Utilizing key features from their architecture, surrounding landscape, and ideas important to the family, CJ created the triad of paintings that evokes cherished memories, family history, nature, and timeless Arts & Crafts design.
